HYROX Boston

The birthplace of American distance running takes on functional fitness — Freedom Trail to finish line

Sat, 14 Nov 2026 Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Boston 3 days · arrive Fri, 13 Nov 2026

HYROX Boston is held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) in the Seaport District — Boston's newest and most dynamic neighbourhood. The November timing makes this one of the cooler HYROX venues on the calendar (indoor racing at 7–12°C outside), which suits athletes who perform better in colder conditions. The BCEC is one of the largest convention centres in New England, steps from Boston Harbour and within a short T or Uber ride of the city's historic Freedom Trail, Harvard Square, and the legendary seafood restaurants on the waterfront. Boston's connection to endurance sports culture runs deep.

Your 3-day itinerary

1

Arrival, Seaport District & BCEC Expo

~$173

Morning

Arrive at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)1 hour$15

Boston Logan (BOS) is 4km from downtown Boston with multiple transport options: the Silver Line SL1 bus to South Station (20 minutes, FREE from the airport, paid to return), water taxi from Logan Water Shuttle Terminal to Seaport/Long Wharf (10 minutes, USD 15), or taxi (USD 25–35). The water taxi is the most scenic and drops athletes directly in the Seaport District adjacent to the BCEC.

💡 The Logan water taxi to Seaport is faster than road transport in Boston rush hour, cheaper than a taxi, and lands you 5 minutes from the BCEC. Buy your ticket at the Logan water taxi terminal.

Hotel check-in in the Seaport District1 hour

The Seaport District surrounding the BCEC has multiple hotel options: Westin Boston Seaport District (connected to the BCEC), Aloft Boston Seaport, and Marriott Courtyard Boston South Boston. Walk to the BCEC from any of these hotels. November in Boston averages 7–12°C — pack layers for outdoor activities.

💡 The Westin Boston Seaport District has a skybridge connection to the BCEC — ideal for race morning access in November cold.

Afternoon

BCEC expo and mandatory bib collection1.5 hours$15

The BCEC is a 525,000 sq ft convention centre with excellent event organisation. Bib collection is mandatory before race day. The HYROX expo at Boston features East Coast fitness brands, equipment suppliers, and merchandise. Confirm your heat time on the HYROX app and walk the competition floor if the setup is visible.

💡 Boston's HYROX field tends to be highly competitive — the city's endurance sports culture means many athletes have excellent running bases that they leverage on the running km segments between stations.

Boston Harbour Harborwalk and Seaport explore1.5 hours

The Boston Harborwalk runs along the entire harbour waterfront from the Seaport to the North End. A 30-minute walk from the BCEC brings you through Fan Pier Park with views of Boston Harbour and the city skyline. The Seaport Square area has dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops.

💡 The November Harborwalk requires a windproof jacket — Boston Harbour has a cold Atlantic wind in November. The views of the skyline across the water are exceptional on clear days.

Evening

Pre-race dinner at Island Creek Oyster Bar or Row 341.5 hours$55

Both Island Creek Oyster Bar (Kenmore Square, near Fenway) and Row 34 (Fort Point Channel, Seaport District) are celebrated Boston seafood restaurants. For a pre-race dinner, order the New England clam chowder (thick, creamy, and carb-rich), grilled fish, and a pasta side. Row 34's location in the Seaport makes it the most convenient option for BCEC-area athletes. Reserve well in advance.

💡 New England clam chowder is a carb and sodium powerhouse — exactly what a pre-race dinner needs. Avoid the heavy cream-based dishes for the main course and stick to grilled fish or pasta.

Where to eat

Airport café or Logan Terminal B food courtbreakfast· $15
Lunch at Flour Bakery + Café, Seaportlunch· $18
Row 34, Seaport — clam chowder and grilled fishdinner· $55

Airport café or Logan Terminal B food court: Bagel with egg, or oatmeal. Standard pre-travel carb-appropriate breakfast.

Lunch at Flour Bakery + Café, Seaport: Flour Bakery is a beloved Boston institution — excellent sandwiches, soups, and baked goods. The turkey and avocado sandwich is excellent pre-race.

Row 34, Seaport — clam chowder and grilled fish: Reserve ahead. New England clam chowder as starter, grilled fish and rice as main.

2

Race Day — 8 Runs, 8 Stations, One Finish

~$179

Heats run all day from 08:00 to 18:00. Be at the venue 60 minutes before your heat. The HYROX app shows live leaderboards and your heat time. Pace the SkiErg conservatively — blowing up on station 1 affects everything that follows. Sled push weight: Open men 102kg, Open women 72kg, Pro men 152kg, Pro women 102kg. Finisher medal and t-shirt collected at the finish gantry.

Morning

BCEC arrival and indoor warm-up1.5 hours

The Seaport hotel proximity makes race morning logistics simple — walk or take a 5-minute taxi to the BCEC. Arrive 60 minutes before your heat. Complete a full dynamic warm-up in the BCEC warmup zone: in November, the outdoor temperature makes this an indoor-only warm-up. Leg swings, hip circles, inchworms, air squats, and a 5-minute jog around the warmup track.

💡 The BCEC is well heated — your competition kit (shorts and t-shirt) is appropriate inside regardless of November outdoor temperature. Do not overdress.

HYROX race at BCEC — 8 runs, 8 stations1.5–2.5 hours

Full HYROX competition in one of New England's premier event venues. Boston's endurance sports culture creates a knowledgeable, enthusiastic crowd — spectators understand the race format and provide specific, informed support at every station. The Boston HYROX field is competitive, particularly in the Open Men/Women divisions.

💡 Pace the SkiErg conservatively — blowing up on station 1 affects everything that follows. The Burpee Broad Jump station (station 4) is often where athletes with strong gym backgrounds lose time — practise your broad jump technique specifically before this race.

Afternoon

Finish line medal and results review1 hour

Collect your finisher medal and t-shirt at the BCEC finish gantry. The HYROX app will show your splits within minutes. Spend 20–30 minutes in the recovery area stretching and refuelling. The BCEC has good concession options in the post-race athlete zone.

💡 The Farmers Carry (200m, heavy handles) combined with the Sandbag Lunges (100m) directly before Wall Balls creates the most acute pre-Wall Ball fatigue. Practise these three stations back-to-back in training specifically.

Boston Harbour winter walk and Seaport lunch1.5 hours

A post-race walk along the Harborwalk from the BCEC north to the Fort Point Channel is a gentle 20-minute flat recovery stroll with harbour views. The Fort Point neighbourhood (adjacent to South Station) has several good post-race lunch spots including Trade restaurant and Pastoral.

💡 Bring a warm jacket to the venue — the Harborwalk in November requires proper cold-weather layers once you have cooled down from the race.

Evening

Post-race dinner at Island Creek Oyster Bar, Kenmore Square2 hours$70

Island Creek Oyster Bar near Fenway Park is one of Boston's finest restaurants — farm-to-table seafood with oysters flown in from Island Creek Farm in Duxbury, Massachusetts. For a post-race celebration dinner, the whole-roasted fish, lobster mac and cheese, and raw bar are extraordinary. Take the Green Line T from Government Center or a rideshare from the Seaport.

💡 Reserve Island Creek weeks in advance for November weekends — it is consistently fully booked. The lobster mac and cheese is a legendary dish that doubles as excellent post-race carbohydrate loading for the next morning's recovery walk.

Where to eat

Hotel breakfast or Dunkin' Donuts (local institution)breakfast· $12
Post-race lunch at Trade Restaurant, Fort Pointlunch· $22
Island Creek Oyster Bar — lobster mac and seafooddinner· $70

Hotel breakfast or Dunkin' Donuts (local institution): Dunkin' is a Boston institution — bagel with egg or oatmeal. Eat 2–3 hours before your heat.

Post-race lunch at Trade Restaurant, Fort Point: Grilled protein, grain bowl, or sandwich. Immediate post-race nutrition within 45 minutes of finishing.

Island Creek Oyster Bar — lobster mac and seafood: Book well in advance. Lobster mac and cheese + whole roasted fish. One of Boston's finest tables.

3

Recovery — Freedom Trail, Harvard Square & Seafood Send-off

~$178

Morning

Freedom Trail self-guided walk2 hours

The Freedom Trail is a 4km red-brick walking path through downtown Boston connecting 16 historic sites from the American Revolution: the Massachusetts State House, Paul Revere's House, Old North Church, Bunker Hill Monument, and the USS Constitution. The flat route is ideal for post-HYROX recovery walking — gentle pace, outdoor air, and 250 years of American history. Pick up a free map at the Boston Common Visitor Center.

💡 The Freedom Trail starts at Boston Common (the oldest public park in the US, 1634) and ends at the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. You can walk the entire trail at recovery pace in 2 hours. All 16 sites are marked by red brick or paint on the pavement — simply follow the line.

Harvard Square day trip by MBTA Red Line2 hours$5

Take the Red Line T from Downtown Crossing or Park Street to Harvard Square (20 minutes, USD 2.40). Harvard Square is an extraordinary neighbourhood of bookshops (Harvard Book Store is one of the best in America), café culture, international students, and the Harvard University campus — arguably the most architecturally distinguished university campus in North America.

💡 The Harvard Art Museums (Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler) share a single building and charge USD 20 admission — worth a 45-minute visit for a world-class permanent collection in an intimate setting.

Afternoon

Mike's Pastry or Modern Pastry, North End45 minutes$10

Boston's North End is the city's Italian neighbourhood — a compact area of excellent Italian restaurants and pastry shops. Mike's Pastry on Hanover Street is famous for its cannoli, offered in dozens of flavours. The queue is long on weekends but moves fast. Modern Pastry across the street is less crowded with equally good product. Both are 100% worth the post-race carbohydrate argument.

💡 Order the ricotta cannolo at Mike's — the shell is filled to order so it stays crisp. Avoid the pre-filled shells in the display case.

Departure from BOS Logan Airport2.5 hours

From the North End or South Station, the Silver Line SL1 bus to Logan Airport is free from the South Station platform — an extraordinary deal for airport access. Allow 2.5 hours for international departures. November departure delays at BOS are possible with winter weather — check airline alerts from the morning.

💡 The Silver Line SL1 from South Station to Logan Airport is free and runs every 7–10 minutes. It is categorically faster and cheaper than any taxi or rideshare from downtown.

Evening

Departure flight from BOS3 hours

Boston Logan serves most North American destinations and has international routes to Europe via American Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, and Air France. Terminal E is the international terminal. Pre-departure food options in Terminal E are limited — eat before clearing security.

💡 American Express Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Club are the best lounges at BOS — accessible with qualifying cards. Terminal E Lounge options are more limited.

Where to eat

Tatte Bakery & Café, Seaportbreakfast· $18
Harvard Square lunch — Harvest Restaurant or Veggie Galaxylunch· $25
Mike's Pastry cannoli + coffee as pre-departure snackdinner· $12

Tatte Bakery & Café, Seaport: Tatte is Boston's beloved café chain — the shakshuka and the bourékas (savoury pastries) are excellent recovery breakfasts with strong protein and carb content.

Harvard Square lunch — Harvest Restaurant or Veggie Galaxy: Harvest Restaurant in Harvard Square is an institution — New England ingredients, seasonal menu, and an excellent lunch prix-fixe.

Mike's Pastry cannoli + coffee as pre-departure snack: Not a full dinner — eat a proper meal at the Harvard Square lunch stop and then treat the cannoli as the send-off dessert.
