Visit Christuskirche in late afternoon when the sandstone glows gold in the light.

🌅 Morning
Namibia Craft Centre

🌅 Morning
Drive Toward the Namib Escarpment
Khomas Hochland Pass road, Namibia
An early departure south toward the edge of the Namib Desert, descending through dramatic highland passes with views opening onto red dune country.
This is a long day trip — Sossusvlei proper is a full overnight trip away, so this version focuses on the desert-edge scenery closer to Windhoek.
☀️ Afternoon
Desert-Edge Nature Walk
Spreetshoogte Pass area, Namibia
A guided walk on the Namib's fringe near the Spreetshoogte Pass area, spotting desert-adapted succulents, quiver trees, and oryx silhouetted against red dunes.
Bring more water than you think you need — the desert air dehydrates faster than it feels.
🌙 Evening

Private game reserve near Windhoek, Namibia
A morning at a private game reserve on the capital's outskirts, with a guided drive to see giraffe, zebra, eland, and white rhino in a fenced conservation area — an easy wildlife taste without a multi-day safari.
These reserves are not the same scale as Etosha, but they're a convenient way to see rhino if your trip doesn't include a longer safari leg.
☀️ Afternoon
Cheetah Conservation Stop
Cheetah Conservation Fund area, near Windhoek
A visit to a cheetah conservation and rehabilitation center near the city, learning about Namibia's role as a stronghold for the world's cheetah population.

Many nationalities, including most EU, UK, US, and Commonwealth citizens, can enter Namibia visa-free for up to 90 days; check current requirements for your passport before booking, as rules have shifted in recent years.
💱 Currency
The Namibian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the South African rand, and rand is accepted everywhere — cards are widely used in Windhoek but carry cash for craft markets and rural stops.

💬 Things you won't find in a guidebook
- Windhoek sits at over 1,600m elevation — nights are cool even in summer, so pack layers.
- Self-driving is easy and common in Namibia, but most roads outside the city are gravel — a 4x4 is recommended for desert-edge trips.
- Craft Centre and Post Street Mall vendors often represent rural cooperatives — buying directly supports community livelihoods more than mass-produced souvenirs.
- Sun protection is essential year-round given the high-altitude, low-humidity desert climate.
- If continuing on to Etosha or Sossusvlei, allow at least 2-3 additional days each — both are multi-hour drives from Windhoek.
